  • I am not very good at keeping this updated!!  Well December was a whirlwind month.  It was so busy, but just wonderful.  We were getting ready for Christmas of course, and Deidre performed in the Nutcracker, which was so fabulous!!  This year she performed Snow, Spanish, and Fritz.  She was beautiful and breathtaking to watch.  This was the first time Blake had ever seen her dance, and he was amazed at her talent.  He went to see both performances, and whistled and cheered louder than anyone.  His whole family and grandparents came too. Deidre was just surrounded by family and friends and all the love she could handle. It was magical, and her best Nutcracker ever.  I have been growing to love my new job as a nurse at John Beck and Kissel Hill.  I love Christmas at school, it was so much fun!  And of course I had my first Christmas vacation, 10 days, woo hoo!  It was great!!  Christmas couldn't have been better.  We went to Christmas Eve at my Mom's as usual, and Christmas morning we had our family time, then were joined by Blake, Elyse, and Kyle, and later Ryan.  We love having all our kids friends and loved ones around.  Having Blake this year was especially wonderful.  He is such a joy to have around.  The love he gives to Deidre is so incredibly beautiful.  When you spend any time with them at all, you fall in love all over again!!  God has blessed them so richly, and they both have come to realize the gift they have been given.  They have found their soulmates, the loves of their lives.  God bless them both!!  Blake and Dee spent a good part of Christmas Day with his side of the family.  He has a big one with lots of aunts and uncles and cousins and both sets of grandparents, so they were busy being loved and spoiled by all of them.  Deidre came home with armloads of gifts!!  We caught up with them in the evening and relaxed with his parents and sisters, it was a perfect ending to the day. Shane was able to enjoy the holidays once he finished his finals, he was shopping until the last minute, ha ha!!  He is taking a break this semester to just catch up with friends and evaluate where he wants to go from here.  He is loving having Kyle home from Louisiana and Justin home from London.  And he has found the brother he never had in Blake, they have a blast together.  He would be thrilled if he became an official member of the family, ha ha!!  So all is well, we are so richly blessed.  Hope you all had magical holidays and Happy New Year!!  Enjoy some pics!!

  • Well, it sure is time to update!!  Holy cow, it's the 1st of December ! Christmas is coming soon!  I love this time of year.  We have done some decorating, and this weekend the tree goes up.  It's always fun to get out all the ornaments we have given each other over the years and remember all the wonderful past Christmases and dream about all the Christmases to come.   This year we have another stocking hanging with Blake's name on it, and Deidre has a very special ornament for him to hang on the tree.  He has become so much a part of the family, we love him so incredibly much.   But not as much as Deidre, ha ha!!  He and Shane are buying a truck together after the holidays, to go mudding and off roading in!!  Blake had seen it months ago, but held off buying it, and then he told Shane about it, and they are both in love, ha ha!!  Listening to them talk about it is a riot, they get into their own little truck world!!  Blake is like the brother Shane always wanted.  His family hung out with us here on Sunday and we all watched the Eagles game and ate lots of good food, what a great time.  And of course, this Friday is the Eastern Championship game!  We are so proud of the Barons for winning the District Championship, and no matter what happens, they are an incredible group of young men.  We hope they will go all the way to states, and maybe even win, but we have loved every minute of the ride, and it has been something we will never forget!  Blake is tired, as they all are, but they are pushing it a little longer.  Deidre is his best therapy, and her love gets him through.  Shane is pushing too, he has two more weeks of this semester, then he gets a nice break. So he has last minute make-up work( this is Shane after all, ha ha!) and finals. Then we have Nutcracker weekend, which Deidre is very busy preparing for too.  We are all going to love Christmas break when we can all relax after the craziness of the month.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and we are all aware of the goodness we all have in our lives.  I hope you are all feeling God's blessings too!  Debby

  • Wow, it can't be Wednesday already!!  I'm glad the week is going by fast, that means the weekend is coming soon!!  Weekends are always great at our house.  The kids have their friends over, and we enjoy good times with the Astons.  This past weekend was fun as always. We had Football Friday, the Barons won yet again.  This week is their last regular game against Garden Spot and they will be going to the playoffs after that. I will miss those Friday nights hanging out with the Aston gang and watching Blake play.  We have all come to love it, but I must admit it is getting pretty cold now!!  We all bundle up, though, and we make it fun.   Saturday night we went to Field of Screams with Dee and Blake.  We all did the hayride, then Jay and I got in line for them for the Den of Darkness while they went in the 3-D barn.  The lines were the longest I have ever seen them.  We all went to Eat 'N Park afterwards.  We had fun with them as always, they are so precious to be around. Their love is contagious, and they laugh all the time.  I have rarely seen two people who enjoy each other the way they do.  We love Blake like he is our own.  He is an amazing young man.  Sunday was relaxing and enjoyable, with church, lunch, and then the Eagles game. In the evening we went to Blake's house and we all went to the movies.  What a great time we had with them!   Deidre has grown to love them all so much, and now we know why.  Thank you Lord for the blessing Blake is in all our lives, and for his family.  Deidre sleeps with a smile on her face since he came into her life.  Of course, he is pretty happy himself, ha ha!!  Oh, young love!!  I hope Shane finds this too.  He is very happy now enjoying time with us and his friends and Dee and Blake.  All is very well at the Ulrich household!!  Praise God!  Well, better go do something around here!  God bless!  Debby

  • Well another week has gone by. They go so fast!! Work keeps me so busy, still so much to learn. I enjoy it and love my coworkers, but it's hard to feel uncomfortable with what you're doing every day. But I learn more every day and get better at it as I go, so it's all good. My family is so supportive, I am very blessed. This weekend was really nice. The Barons football game was postponed Friday night due to rain, so we had chinese food at home, then Deidre and Blake went to the after party. Shane was out with friends. Jay and I just relaxed since we both had to work Saturday. After work I ran errands in the pouring rain, that was fun!! Shane had a good day at home working on schoolwork while Deidre had dance classes and Nutcracker rehearsal until 4:30. She is really working hard every Saturday, but she never complains. In the evening we were all supposed to go to Field of Screams but we got rained out( have to wait until next weekend!). So we decided to go to the movies with Dee and Blake. They went to see Two for the Money, and Jay and I saw The Fog, ha ha!! They really enjoyed their movie and we enjoyed ours too. Jay had his heart set on a Halloween movie, and The Fog had its share of scares and ghosts!! Afterwards we went to Eat and Park and had a great time just laughing and enjoying them. They are so much fun to be with, such great kids. Shane couldn't join us because he had a Halloween party to go to!! He went with Freshie who was dressed as a cowgirl, and Deidre did his makeup for him, he looked sooo beautiful, ha ha! We didn't get home until 2 am so Blake slept over and we went to church and Beijing today as we usually do. After that, Deidre and Blake decorated my pumpkins for my porch for me. Deidre painted a beautiful girl pumpkin, but Blake carved his. He's really good at it and was so cute to watch. They had a lot of fun, and the pumpkins are sooo adorable. I'll add pictures soon. Tonight Dee and Blake are at his house spending time with his family for dinner. Deidre loves them so much, they are so good to her and she feels blessed to have another adopted family. Shane and Jay went to see the comedian Brad Stine at E-town, so I'm enjoying a quiet productive evening at home, I'm loving it!! Soon I'm going to the Astons to see them and pick up Dee. So that's it for life at the Ulrichs. May God bless you all!! Debby

  • Wow, what a weekend!  It was the long awaited Homecoming, and it was as wonderful as everyone hoped it would be.  Friday night Blake's team played 3 hours away in Central Mountain, so we didn't go, but we really missed our Friday night routine!!  Deidre got time with Erika though and they went to the Homecoming game and it was good for both of them.  On Saturday Deidre and I ran to the nail appointment for a manicure and pedicure, then to Marissa to get her hair done.  As usual, the result was beautiful, just what Deidre wanted.  My Mom came to visit for a while before Deidre got dressed, then everyone came!!  Erika, Elyse, Ryan, the Houghton family, the Rancks, the Astons, and of course, Blake!!  Even with a dozen other people in the room, they only see each other, it is sooo cute!!  We took lots of pictures, then went to the Lititz Park for some more.  Dee and Blake wanted to go there to play before dinner and the dance, and they had so much fun!  They played on the swings, and posed everywhere for about 5 cameras!!  They were such good sports.  They are so loved!  After we tortured them long enough, they went off to dinner and the dance, and the report from them was that it was a blast.  They came back here for a while and joined up with Shane and a couple of friends, then they left for Bahama Mama, while Dee Blake Elyse and Ryan hung out here until Elyse and Ryan left, then Dee and Blake had their own special time together.  What a precious memory for them. They spent all day together Sunday,  so it was really tough to say goodbye last night.  But there's always tomorrow.  Jay had to work Saturday, but he got home in time for pictures and the park, and so did Shane so it was a family affair.  Yesterday I made a big post Homecoming brunch for Dee and Blake when they finally got up, ha ha!!   And our whole family had a great time together. Then Shane went hiking with his friends, Jay and I went to see Cathy Chemi in concert ( it was fabulous!) and Dee and Blake went to his house to spend time with the Aston clan.  Deidre loves it there as much as Blake loves it at our house.  It was a perfect weekend, thank you Lord for all the love and joy and laughter we all shared, and for the beautiful weather!!  Enjoy the pictures!
